The preparation for the 2015 Western Canada Summer Games for Flying 'M' athletes was a tough one.  Both Taylor Heald and Jared Allary started their preparations early on in the season.  Both athletes were training and competing throughout the season with different weighted implements pretty much every week.  Jared, just graduated from Oak Park High School and was the 2015 MHSAA Champion in the Shot Put.  Jared was competing with a 5kg shot during his High School season, then with the 6kg shot for his age class competitions, the 6kg hammer and 1.75kg discus at National Junior Championship in July, then qualifying and competing at the WCSG with the senior men's weighted implements, 7.26kg hammer and 2kg discus.

Taylor had a similar experience in the shot, throwing the 3kg shot during all age class competitions and the 4kg shot at WCSG.  Taylor was a triple gold medalist at the MHSAA champion, earning first place in the Shot Put, Discus and Javelin in 2015 competing for Grant Park High School

HUGE congratulations go to both of our Flying 'M' athletes who competed and represented Manitoba and the Flying 'M' Athletic Club well this season.

At the Western Canada Summer Games in Wood Buffalo, Alberta:

Jared finished the season off with a huge personal best with the senior men's hammer and a 39.99m throw which earned him 6th place, and another top 8 performance in the discus with a throw of 34.70m.

And Taylor, who had a great season and brought home two gold medals from the Western Canada Summer Games.  Taylor won gold in the discus with a throw of 42.40m, with her second gold coming in the shot with a throw of 12.84m.  Taylor earned the 5th place position in the hammer with a throw of 43.27m and another top 8 performance in the javelin with a throw of 30.63m.

What a great season for our young Flying 'M' Athletes!  Congrats to you and to your coaches!
